Davis wasn't a perfect man by any means but to face what he faced organizing a government and fight a war at the same time would have challenged the best of men. So in many way Davis was "the Father of Our Country."
Even George Washington didn't do that. Washington first fought a war. Then He became the "father of our Country (US)" when he was elected as the 1st "CONSTITUTIONAL" President of the United States. After the United States undeer the Articles of Confederatiion with its 14 Presidents, was abolished. So actually Washington was the 15th President of the United States. He was just the first under the present Constitution.
PS. That also makes Obama the 59th President not the 44th.
