Joe, I suppose in Georgia and Virginia Longstreet is highly regarded but down here in Louisiana, among folks who are familiar with his post-war politics and ventures he isn't going to be winning any popularity contest. May I suggest a short but well researched book by Manie White Johnson titled "The Colfax Riot of April, 1873".

It is available for $6.00 (six dollars) from Dogwood Press. Go to this address and search for the title and it will pop up for you.
