Nothing modern, or simplistic, or politically charged about the institution of slavery, it was real, and it was a big issue. If the South had divested itself of slavery long before the war, it would not have been an issue. Slavery today is so abhorrent, that it is impossible to make most people understand how it could have been so readily acceptable back then.

The best your going to hope for is that folk today that have woke up to the way the country is heading, (and don’t like the idea of having little options to stop it) will realize the dilemma Southerners were facing back then…
