George. your comment not only applies to southern whites, but also applies equally to the treatment by northern soldiers of southern blacks in contraband camps. Does an apoligy for the institution of Slavery, which all states in the United States endorsed in 1787, also apply to the mistreatment of the very people that the northern soldiers were supposedly fighting to free?
Just what does this apoligy cover? Does it only cover the slavery of the Confederacy. Or does it cover the Northern merchants who instituted the practise in the first place. Or who profited from the ship building and the slave trade not only in the south, but also world wide?
