I've concluded that of all the options to South Carolina, or even the other six original states to secede, to save and protect the instituion of slavery, secession was the worst option if slavery were the main and only reason for such an act. Becoming a foriegn nation surrounded by a hugh hostile nation, who economically would destroy the seceding states, and without the protections of laws and treaties, with a small white population, its borders would be totally open to escaping slaves.

The original secession movement had leaders and motives not known to main stream history. Who were they and what were their motives? This is why I'm posting these articles.
