Well, if you get back there, stop in at Mendenhall G and G and tell them I sent you. Most the places in the book you got exist and can still be found today. Simpson County didn't pave their roads with asphalt until 1981, and out-houses made up about 15% of the private facilities until the mid 1970s; my uncle Alton lived in a two room shack on skids, with one light bulb, and used rain water until the mid 1980s, if that gives you an idea of how rural it is. God how I miss hauling-hay for a livin. :)
