One of my favorite actions in the war. Forrest used masked artillery in a rare offensive manuver, using only mobile artillery Forrest completely destroyed the base, he used tactics that would not be common until World War I, or better yet World War II and the use of armor. To destroy these targets Forrest didn't even need to cross his men over the river. Ah... the 3-inch ordinance rifle, the '88' of the Civil War.
A good example of combating Union river forces.
