I have posted on occasions that "Might Made Right", but that does not mean that I like the concept! I quote from General Sherman, but I didn't like his methods, but I understand his reasons.
I still didn't like them.
My problem here is that its blatant anger and hate that is the reason for some seem to post on this BB, under the guise of “Historical Fact”. I have no problem with hardly any of the historical facts being posted, but deeply question WHY they post what they do. This should not be a BB of anger/hate!
I’m not going to win arguments here, as I’m not the moderator/rule maker. Folk are too set in their vengeful ideas and viewpoints for me to change them. I shudder that someone new gets on this BB, and only gets the majority of facts posted that slant against the Union side of the war. I don’t think this BB is the “News & Views of anger and hate”, though it gets that way.
Would a bit of understanding that “War is all Hell” applies to every side of the argument concerning events that were bad?
I know you can’t have a “Fairness act” on this BB, but the anger/hatefulness needs to be curtailed.
My Father was a great History Teacher; he taught that there were two sides of the story, and for his students not to be so quick to choose only one side of the story. He could adopt a teaching stance that did not include hateful rants, or histrionics.
We all should be careful about what, and why we post, others are reading our thoughts. We can be a bit more mindful of that.
