Seems to me that one problem with all this is the lack of written information. Not that unusual in a society with a strong oral tradition like in the mountains of TN,GA and NC where my mom's people come from.. Mississippi, well I don't know that much about the literacy of the residents of Jones and what their view would be. Certainly we would know what Confederate military sources were saying. I have found oral accounts amongst the old folks of the Unaka Mountains to be bore out by what documentation there is. Those folks have a good memory.
