It would definitely be small scale to major battles going on. Maybe some animosity between neighbors was just thought better to keep quiet and let rest after the tragedy of the war. One thing about it though, whether you're shot dead at Vicksburg, Gettysburg or riding some mountain trail by yourself you're still dead with all the tragedy for your family. I wonder at the interest in Mr. Knight. There was so much more unionist feeling in East TN and places. Though I've researched partisan fighting in the NC,TN AND GA border I had never heard of Knight until the time I first came on this board and believe either you or Ben posted something on him.
