IMHO if we don't really know what prompted the secession crisis, then talk about the fighting is meaningless. For example, you and I have heard countless people say the war was about States Rights. If we got a dollar from every one of them who didn't understand what that really meant in 1860, you and I could buy ourselves new cars.
