Quite interesting! Thanks for posting the names, parties and states represented for Senate votes.

The 1960s marks the end of the old Republican party which had largely controlled American government since the end of the Civil War. Up until this time most Americans voted the same way their ancestors shot during the war. Post-Reconstruction Republican office holders in the former Confederate States were quite scarce up until this decade.
