Since Robert E. Lee described secession as "northing but revolution", he would be a Southern Unionist.

Considering that political opinions aren't static, we could reasonably describe a large majority of Southerners as Unionist in mid-October of 1859. Obviously events which shaped opinion converted most of them to secessionists before May of 1861.
