Oh what fun it is to dig up the family dirt!!! :) That's interesting David. I have enjoyed trying to piece together events that my ancestors were involved in (and there's no end to that list). If there was trouble, they were in the middle of it. In your case, you can see a possible motive for your one ancestor's actions in the CW. One of hubby's lines were in Salem and yes, they were involved up to the eyeballs with the witch hunt. This was the ( I forget how many Greats it goes back to) Grandfather of the guy who surrendered the Arsenal in Charleston and joined the Confederate Army. Keep researching, you will find more cool stuff. :)
