Yes, you are correct of course. I was relying on Dunlaps outline of the process in the ANV. Which was supposted to be the model. However the farther westward, and closer to the frontier that you were, the more common the "survival skills" were that Dunlap was looking for in the ANV.

That was one of the things that Longstreet was told when he arrived in Georgia to reinforce Bragg's AoT was that he was fighting westerners of Rosecran's Army and not those of Meade's. This seemed to be a common trait in both armies and much discussed by historians as to the realitive fighting abilities (?) of the western soldier as campared to those from eastern states.
