Re: Mississippi Pineywood loyalties

This is an accurate description of most so-called "Southern Unionists". Before Harpers Ferry, the election of 1860, secession and Lincoln's call for troops, a majority of Southern citizens would have described themselves as Unionists. Many would have said the country left them, not the other way around. People this far back into the woods didn't much care, one way or another.
