Col. Robert L. Howard

Forgive me Jim, for going off subject, but I have to comment. Col. Robert L. Howard, MOH, just died in Texas. Why have we never heard of him? He had more combat awards than Audie Murphy, and was cited three times for the MOH. One was downgraded to a DSC, the second to a Silver Star. He finally was awarded it the third time. Some say the citations would have revealed covert operations. Those who served with him said he deserved all three. He was wounded fourteen times, but was awarded only eight purple hearts. When Nixon draped the ribbon around his neck, not one "journalist" reported the story. Apparently they felt to honor this warrior would be to glorify the Viet Nam War. What a shame. His name should never be forgotten. If Lee had had a few more officers like Col. Howard, things would have been a lot more interesting. Check this site: http://rlhtribute.com/ Stan
