Yes, E.D., my maternal roots are in Mississippi and before that, South Carolina and before that, Virginia. My Texas roots go back (I am about 99+% sure, haven't quite got him connected up with my Virginia Bristers/Bristows) to Goliad where on March 27, 1836, Nathaniel R. Brister, a member of James Fannin's troops and an original member of the New Orleans Greys, was executed by Santa Anna's soldiers in the well known massacre of some 300-400 Texians took place in Goliad on that date.
