I appreciated your review and I believe your points for liking the film about the battle of the Wilderness were valid. Movies are "eye of the beholder" stuff for me and I've noted many times in popular movies, that I like many of the films critics pan and don't like many films that the critics rave about. I must say, I thought the film dragged and honestly I remember fast-forwarding many times to get to the end. I do know; however, that at other times in my life I would have viewed the film with a great deal more interest. As a young man, when I was reenacting, I'm sure I would have watched the film with more interest regarding the uniforms and equipment used. Also, when it comes to the battle of the Wilderness I'm much more interested in understanding tactics, chronology, commandery and other details regarding the flow and progression of the battle.
I was very close to you last Thursday, as I have a number of projects active in Louisiana. Unfortunately, on Thursday evening it was about 8:00 PM at night when I was on I-10 near you and I was anxious to get home to Houston. I sure would like to get a few hours to spare and call you for a cup of coffee or something.
