During the ceremony, when our lCIC got to the point where he says, "Sgt. 1st Class Monti distinguished himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life. . . ", he pronounced intrepidity "in-trep-edy" and went on to describe how Sgt. Monti "just grabbed his 'gun,' and . . ." Now you tell me what a DI would do to a young soldier who called his weapon - a "gun." It appears no one vets our CIC's speeches, nor does he rehearse them in advance of delivering them. Interestingly, on the internet videos of this MOH presentation, our CIC's mistake was erased prior to release of the "official" version
