Linda, I think I may know what you are trying to say . . . songs like this one just bring out memories and feelings that are so much easier to think about than to describe in the typed word. I guess that's the way its meant to be. The part about Nashville in the winter of '64 was particularly touching since I lived there for about seven years and at one time knew a good bit about Hood's loss there. I recall there is nothing left of the union works south of Nashville or for that matter any preservation of the battlefield that I ever saw. At least there wasn't some 50 years ago when I was there. I had one great uncle, Samuel Brister Jr.(Co D, 40th Mississippi, Hebar's Brigade) who died at Franklin and rests today in McGavock Cemetery in Franklin, Tennessee. I had him in mind as I listened to Trace.
