That's an interesting perspective. I really need to study up on him. His own writings show he sure don't lean toward the side his blood line did.
I just found the land lottery info.on my Dads paternal line for the Georgia grants for service in the Revolutionary War and for that of the War of 1812. They were in Elbert and Habersham Counties. My ancestor in my paternal line was with George Washington at Valley Forge. I've seen part of a report that places him in the 'hospital' during some of that time. He was not a young man either but it seems he was determind to have a part in the birth of our nation. Of course his Grandsons fought with the Confederacy but he was from Virginia. If more of our modern lawmakers were to use the same moral standards as those who came before, it may bring back trust in our government. Lately that has been missing and I don't see it getting better any time soon.
