Art was one of those published historians who was very generous to everyone else. He was a true gentleman and diplomat. My last exchange with him was, "Has anyone written a book about the 2nd LA Cavalry". He replied there was none, but there should be because they were a remarkable outfit. A lot of people will remember his kind words as well as his help.
