My gg-grandfather was one of the surrendered soldiers at Ft. Donelson that spent the first 7 months at Camp Douglas. There must be well over a hundred thousand descendants of the Confederates who stayed in that hell hole. If my granddaughter is only able to learn and remember two images of the War, one of them will be Camp Douglas.
