My granny Halcomb, told how her g-aunt ran off some Pro-Confederate Kentucky militia from her farm one day while her husband was off fighting the war. My direct Halconmbs were with the Union but others were with the Rebs. I believe their name was changed when enlisted from Holcombe to Halcomb.
