The politics of the rural South in the 1890s, and the economic wows, cannot be blamed on the Confederate government in which Collins became a traitor to. The powers in charge were cut from a different cloth. These times were explosive, and there are political links to the same problems found in other states. In 1893 the Mitchum Beat War broke out in Clarke County, Alabama and it was indirectly tied to the problems in Jones County, Mississippi. Farmers were being squeezed and they were trying to organize to protect themselves.

Moselle, Mississippi was named by my GGGG Grandfather John Adams Shows whose family came from that part of Germany (the Moselle River Valley).
