In southeast Missouri we didn't have to get caught, we was too poor to be confederates all the time. Once in awhile some of our guys would join the Yanks for a week or two, get a horse and a gun and a couple of good meals, then go back to doin what cum natural. We had so many boys wearin yank overcoats the 7th Kansas went to wearin butternut an yellow scarfs. :>)
