Slavery was legal in the US so there rights were protected by the owners and such laws as there were protecting slaves. These laws may not have been much, but I do believe blacks sold each other into salvery in Africa and even owned each other here in the United States, so doesn't seem to me like the blacks had a lot against the institution of slavery.

Now how about the Indians? I know the Buffalo soldiers didn't treat the Indians like they had any rights. Maybe it was some of your wife's people who helped with this slaughter???

How about the little white kids in the northern sweatshops didn't they have any rights? They were more or less owned.

How about the share cropers and miners who stayed in debt to the company store, what rights did they have? They were owned by the company. Look at what just happened in West Virginia.

How about the Northern black codes did they give free or slave balcks any special rights??? Could have been some of your people who helped enforce these codes.

If the escaped slaves were so welcome in the north, why did the underground run all the way to Canada?
