What I had really been looking for was more information on Lee then just the basics that I already knew. I stumbled onto this. Lee it seems was a typical southern (there were some in the north too) slave owner - it isn't uncommon at all. What shocked me was that for years historians have tried to paint a picture of a Lee who was a reluctant -kind slave owner. This does make ya think a little.
