Yes I have heard of them, in fact one one of my uncles was klilled and thrown in the hog pin by them. That is at least a family legend, but I have not found any solid proof. I have the story of Uncle Will Purvis, hung twice or something like that, never killed he was supposed to have been a White Cap and killed a white man. Turns out he was innocent. The book came out as a $.10 cent novel sometime in the late 30s or eqarly 40s. I think the area they roamed was Pike, Walthall and Marion County, since I have never heard of them in other counties.
