that 134 years after his death, he is still a sufficiently polarizing person to cause such
a response. Not just due to his WBTS exploits [if one can excuse his showy dress and
recklessness that produced such high casualty numbers, e.g., Gettysburf], but moreso
in my opinion, his post-WBTS depredations inflicted upon the Sioux and Cheyenne, the
gross underestimation of his Indian adversaries military competence and flagrant violation
of basic tactical principles at Greasy Grass. No doubt, Libby was a better woman than Custer was a man.
Anyone else have an opinion on what it was and is about Custer that still gets under the skin of
most on this board? Have I missed something about the man that figures into this?
