Well, Boz, the Indians were certainly not the underdogs at the Greasy Grass. I think Custer's flamboyance, exemplified by his outlandish dress; good grief!, a velvet uniform jacket!?; and his overblown opinion of himself raised, and still raises, people's hackles. This was offset to a degree by his undoubted, perhaps foolhardy, bravery. His superiors used his qualities by giving him somewhat vague orders, knowing he would stretch them to the limit, and get results. This last time, they pointed him at the wrong target, and his troops suffered for his arrogance. Stan
