What part of Virginia would any Southern soul have traded for any place in Mexico? Can you imagine those from Alabama or Mississippi doing that? Sure, the piney woods of Mexico??? No, that would never have been an option for Davis to even think on. Would Lee have agreed? Nope.
The collossal mess making that can be done and hidden away from the general population while they try to make a saint of the mess maker is staggering. And yet, we can see today how it is done.
