Re: Restoring the equipoise of sectional distincti

Soooo, He really thought this through but didn't discuss it with Davis. What an arrogant donkey's behind. Of course Davis wouldn't have gone along with it. Mexico isn't the South. Mexico isn't home. Lincoln once thought he'd make some slaves feel good and wanted to ship them off to a country far away. That wasn't what they wanted either. It's like watching someone manipulate chess pieces on a board and that someone is the only one playing and using both sides. I'll just move that rook here and then run to the other side and move a knight there-------. I'm sort of thinking he may have been a bit crazy. Really. What part of Virginia would any Southern soul have traded for any place in Mexico? Can you imagine those from Alabama or Mississippi doing that? Sure, the piney woods of Mexico??? No, that would never have been an option for Davis to even think on. Would Lee have agreed? Nope.
The collossal mess making that can be done and hidden away from the general population while they try to make a saint of the mess maker is staggering. And yet, we can see today how it is done.
About the only up side of that idiocy is that our Southern border would be narrower and easier to protect today.
