The VA grave markers are good, but I do not believe you or I would like to see the Feds bestow medals to our ancestors. Instead, they should take the modern equivalent of all the tax dollars paid by Southerners for Union pensions and pay for Confederate monuments in all the towns and cities that were burned, bombed and pillaged by Union soldiers and sailors.
