Even in this rural East Texas community, where only Republicans can get elected, the school district is mired hip deep in the politics of revisionist history. Coincidently, the county seat/school district is made up mostly of hispanic and black children because the majority of white children are being educated in private schools, neighboring districts, or at home. I can go to most of the other school districts in this county and present a balanced Civil War Living History, but not in two of them.
Public schools are floundering worse than ever and we have segregation again. Thanks George W. Bush. Time to abolish the Department of Education.
