I'm trying to help a friend make some sense of her GGGGrandmother being denied a pension though she was the widow of a Confederate soldier. He died and she remarried a man who was also a Confederate veteran from the same unit her first husband was in. He died a few months after the marriage. She was denied a pension under her first husbands name we assume because of her second marriage but then she was denied a pension under his name though he was a vet. The applications were in Baldwin County, Alabama. She ended up over in Mississippi living with a sons family whe she died. As far as we can tell, she didn't get a pension. Was the pension denial common or does anyone know on a second marriage to a veteran?
