The overall point here is that history is not final; the history on Gettysburg is far from over. That's why archeologist get paid, that's what researchers continually research. How was my original post apart of any groupthink? I posted it without any preconceived ideas or agendas. I shared it was a simple find and interesting deviation on populist history. There are published modern works on the subject of Stuarts ride around the Union forces at Gettysburg.
"Plenty of Blame to Go Around: Jeb Stuart's Contriversial Ride to Gettysburg", by Wittenburg and Petruzzi. 2006
"Saber and Scapegoat, J.E.B. Stuart adn the Gettysburg Controversy" by Mark Nesbitt, 1994.
If anyone has read them I would like to know what their arguments are...especially "Plenty of Blame to Go Around".
There seems to be a mentality that bringing up older histories or ideas is wrong or improper, that in itself is something to study.
