I was reading the Land Ordinance of 1785 and realized it was put into place by the government of the Articles of Confederation. This law set up the townships of territories for raising monies via the leasing of 16th Section lands for public schools. It is still in use. How was it absorbed into the laws of the new Government set up by the U.S. Constitution? How about other laws, acts and treaties formulated by the old government, how were they continued under the U.S. Constitution?
