Re: We've lost a real son
It's odd I never thought of it this way, but my grand dad was a real son. He was just "Granddaddy" to me. He died in December, 1942, when I was almost five. I watched him die, in bed, at home. He was born before the war, in 1859. He worked at Glover Machine Works, in Marietta, making donkey train engines. He was 27 years older than my grandmother. His father, my GGF, was Lemuel H. Boring, Pvt., Co. A, 18th Georgia Infantry, ANV, at one time part of the famed Texas Brigade. Pvt. Boring died at Seven Pines, and is buried in Richmond. My Grandfather, Isaac T. Boring, is buried in the Marietta City Cemetery, which is adjacent to the Confederate Cemetery. Because of this post, I'll have even more respect for him. Stan
