Real Memories

One of my Confederate g-uncles lived to be 94 and died in 1937. He told lots of stories and several of his nephews and nieces who heard them are still alive. Cousin Nina, who is 93, is still lucid. My point is that it is not too late to hear some good second hand war stories.

My Aunt Mary is 96 and growing feeble, but she still likes to talk about her grandmother who chased off yankee foragers with a double barreld shotgun. On the other hand, her father who was a Real Son, died in 1960. He was a quiet man and did not tell her anything about the War.

We all should have started carrying recorders around before we were old enough to read and interviewed these people.
