Bored!!!! Oh no you haven't!! The telling of these things is what makes a family. We can be connected to our parents and children but knowing where we came from and a bits and pieces of that journey are the real glue. My Granddaddy would get to talking about his childhood in the hills of Georgia and I could just see it. They were better than fairy tales because sometimes he'd change the ending. I never told him he had already recited some little fact and it was a bit different. As the son of a Baptist Preacher, he had some line to toe. I'm not sure that's not why he left home at such an early age and joined the Navy. He did like his 'nip' and felt it would do no harm in letting me have one too. Watered down. In a shot glass with almost all water. Like I said before, he didn't hold being a girl against me. I've sort of classified his tales in my brain as the Elberton Files, Navy Files, Other. He had a lot of 'other'. The one thing he never talked to me about was war. Any war. He'd been in WWI and II. His Grandfathers and Uncles had been in the 15th Georgia during the 'Late Unpleasantness". I don't know why, he just would not talk about war.
