I was very surprised when Homeland Security changed their mind. The thought of him being deported was just plain horrible to me. If it was public pressure or congressional pressure, whatever, that changed their mind, it's a very good thing to have happened. There are so many intertwined stories and views on the constant threats to Israel. Fiction got me interested in the story and then I started reading other things. How can anyone not see there is a very similar reason for the Israeli's wanting their own homeland and the early Settlers in America? It is all based on faith. After I read Exodus, by Leon Uris when I was in high school I read everyone of his works. Pair Exodus with The Haj, also by Uris and you see just what is going on today. James A.
Michener laid some very good background in The Source but it's relevent to today. The fighting has not stopped.
Somehow, it's not so very different than the South's fight. Yes, the war is over but the attacks are still coming in. Just with words now.
