There's a lot to be learned there but those who need to learn aren't inclined to listen. We've been batting a thousand at knocking out our allies in recent months. We can only hope they understand not everyone is as lost in their own ego as those they've been in contact with.
I have never understood why is was ok for the government to do all it has done to the Indian Nations, even those who helped the government. Jackson was almost manic in his wish to remove not from the area but from the earth anything that was Native American. Well, except for the one he adopted and a few he began to talk to after he tried to kill them but failed. Anyone reading on his campaigns figures this out in a very short time. Then it carried over to later military figures. Just picked up where Jackson left off.
Good grief!! They say they fought a war to free slaves but they turned around and killed Indians!! Where is that written that it is ok to do that?
Some sort of effort was made to cover up the bloody trail but it was waay after the majority were gone either to the Spirit World or the Rez. Then came Dee Brown. Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee was well written and eye opening but my personal favorite is Creek Mary's Blood.
There is more coming though. I'm not just whistlin the song we love so well. Don't think for one moment that the big pow wow and shout out to the 'Natives' (at an inappropriate time I might add) doesn't have a dark side. The huge 'reparations' speech was just the side show to the big show. (yeah, I know, I borrowed the phrase because it's too good not to). The "Native Americans" now have big income. At least some do. The tribes are hiring a lot of people. These people work in service areas. See where this is going? Down the tubes. I hope the 'Natives' remember their lessons from their ancestors and never trust the pipe smoker from the American Chief's City.
