Re: What is left for the 4th of July

You said, "I think of campaign reform the way Stan F. thinks about term limits."

Personally I do not like terms limits. "Term Limits" create "Lame Ducks", which means that once a politician is term limited he would not have any reason to listen to the will of the people and could act free of any retribution of an enraged populas, since he would not have to face re-election. Secondly, why would you get rid of a "good" politician who acts constitutionally simple because he has served his limited term?

No, I am for repealing the 17th Amendment and returning the selection of our U.S. Senator to the state legislators who answer to the people for their position. This would restore the power of the individual States into our Government. Also mean that U.S. Senators could be recalled by those legislator at any time. This would reenforce the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution as it was intended.

I would also like to see a recall law for the U.S. House of Representatives if they did not legislate the will of the people.

We see now what the power of an Executive branch of Government can do when it has the support of the Legislative Branch without any checks and balances. We have removed too many of those safeguards. We need to restore that balance of power.
