Pam, of course I never knew my two great uncles from the 18th Ga., ANV, but my two uncles, who had "seen the elephant" in WWII, one in the Navy in the Pacific, aboard a destroyer, and the other in the 36th Division, who fought up the boot of Italy, would only tell me funny stories, with very few exceptions. Uncle Jay did tell me about the Japanese shell that took out his stove, while he was a general quarters, and Uncle Robert told me about the winter the ate a cat, but that's about it. I think they buried the worst parts, to stay sane. Uncle Jay tried to re-enlist in the Navy for Korea, but his feet had gotten too flat, so he joined the Amy. Go figure. He went to Korea, but never talked about it. Stan
