Battle of Camp Wildcat

I visited the site of the battle of Camp Wildcat on the Wilderness Trail in Kentucky last week. That part of the trail is about like it was 150 years ago. The battle of Wildcat Mountain was the first battle of regular troops from both sides in KY. Though a few days before Zollicoffer did route some Union Home Guards in Barbourville. However, he would have to retreat at Wildcat...Kentucky being an unfortunate place for Felix Zollicoffer. The following describes the battle. Zollicoffer's men were from TN with one unit from Mississippi. The Union soldiers were two regiments from TN, Kentucky Home Guard, Kentucky Cavalry and the rest units from Ohio and one from Indiana. Pretty much of a "Civil War" there.
