At one time the armies were made up of boys from certain states, after the third army in 1957-58 I was in the 4th army at Ft. Polk La 1961-62 with people from Mississippi, Louisanna and Texas. I don't think they do things like that anymore, my grandson, from AL. is in the big Red One at Ft. Riley Kansas. They purposely mixed boys from the south and the north for WWI there was a movie made about it starring James Cagney.
