Re: Robert E. Lee
Add my thanks, Ken. Funny Trooper story that could have ended badly if we weren't both calm enough. The week of JFK's funeral I had to drive to Washington State and back, in a hurry, as I was outrunning a blizzard. I stopped in Kansas to nap in a pulloff beside the road, .357 Colt Trooper in hand. All of a sudden my door was opened. I came up with my pistol at the ready. The trooper backed up, hands in the air, and said "Kansas State Trooper!" I immediately put my pistol in the seat, raised my hands, and said "US Navy!" Then we both started laughing, from relief, I suppose.
Turned out he was unable to wake me knocking on the window, and opened the door to be sure I was all right. Good thing we were both trained, and didn't panic. He told he could see I was Ok, and to be careful. I thanked him, and assured him I would be. Stan
