Stan, I would sleep in my car on the way home from Ft. Polk. Always wore my uniform. One time I woke up with the feeling that someone was watching me. I sat up in the seat and a Trooper was walking back to his patrol car. Scared me half to death. By the way, hope you still have that Colt Trooper 357, they are collectables now and worth a small fortune.

Our tents had concrete floors, wooden frames and a pot bellied stove for heat, that we had to tend to all night. Had to go out for showers and freeze going and coming back. Also had to stay in a pup tent during field training. Slept in a sleeping bag with no heat. Wakeing up in the middle of the night neediing a potty break and finding the zipper in the back, your tent mate did not appricate being woke up. Not as much fun times as chasing an H. bomb, but a lot less dangerous.
