Indian Battles during the Civil War

I have some references for those who have expressed interest in the subject of Indian Wars.

-------------

Enclyclopdedia of Indian Wars Western Battles and Skirmishes 1850-1890 by Gregory F. Michno, 2003, 439 pages.

For a straight reference of information on the western Indian Wars this is highly recommended. Many photograhs. Covers Confederate as well as Union actions.

This book covers a summary of every battle and skirmish in the western states and territories, by area, with maps. Chronological Listing of Battles and Skirmishes, Index of Battles by Place, Index of Indian Tribes. Tables include; Number of Battles/Number of Casualties per State by Year, States Ranked by Number of Battles, with total White and Indian Casualties, U.S. and State Military Units Ranked by Number of Indian Casualties Caused, U.S. Cavarly Units in Order, with Number of Indian Battles and Casualties Caused, Number of Battles by Year, Tribes Ranked by Number of Battles with Army, with Casualties Caused, Number of Battles by Month.

-------------

The American Military Frontiers, The United States Army in the West, 1783-1900, by Robert Wooster, 2009, 361 pages.

Photographs and maps.

Unlike the above, this work tells more of a story of the United States and its conflicts with the Indians from the Ohio Valley, the Indian Removals, the Civil War, to the final conquest of the Continent.
